About Plowing Forward

Hi! I’m Jenny.  The gal behind Plowing Forward.

I started this blog a while ago as a ‘thought dump’ chronicling anything on my mind.  I soon discovered how much I love taking and editing photos of anything as well as sharing fun things I have discovered.

Why call my blog “Plowing Forward”? Because that’s what we’re doing…every day (deep stuff, right?).  Originally, I liked it because of the farming implication it had and I feel like my husband and I are literally plowing our way forward towards our dream of our own farm, but it grew on me in a more metaphorical way.  I feel like every day, every craft, every project, recipe and action in life is just one more turn of the tractor wheel (so to say).  We are growing, changing and moving forward everyday.  Nothing is perfect and we are all just plowing our way forward in our own ways.

So that’s the end of my deep, life analyzing ramble.  How’s that for a window into my thoughts??

Today, Plowing Forward is about my trials and tribulations in all the fun things in life: crafts, baking, cooking, kid raising, the occasional DIY project and farm wife-ing (yep…I make up verbs).  Like most people, I love finding new recipes, tricks to make life easier, fun things to do with my kids and new, easy craft projects.   I like to keep it simple and keep it real.  Life is too short to pretend like I’m perfect (and who has time for that??)!

This blog is a work in progress for me and a definite labor of love.  Please let me know what you think!

Some getting to know me facts:

I live in Iowa.

I married a handsome, hard working farmer.

In a perfect world, I would have chickens and a home with a mudroom.

I have 2 kids.  They are both under the age of 3 and already tired of me taking their pictures all the time.

I am silly.

I find wine totally awesome.

Working out is one of my favorite activities.  Followed by the consumption of raw cookie dough.

I am skilled at killing flies with a fly swatter.  Like, ninja skills.

…and a million other things that make me just the same/totally different than you.

What a cute blog! Your son is one lucky boy to grow up on a farm! I’m sure he’ll love every minute of it. Sometimes I wish for a simpler life like that for my family, but I would miss the ocean terribly.
Thanks for stopping by my blog. I love the homemade baby food recipes on here. Now if only I could find time to make them. : )

I’m an Iowa girl too! Not currently there however- we’ve been “replanted.” My heart often calls back though and perhaps someday another uprooting and transplanting will take place back home.
